Maybe the M1 will mark the demise of Windows. We've seen Microsoft try and fail many times (recently Windows Mobile, UWP), so I'm not sure this will happen. The M1 changes the rules of the game, and I'm afraid Microsoft will not be able to compete because, even if they come up with a similar (but obviously different) architecture, they still have to get third-party developers on board, and that's the tricky part. I've made a list of the things that I thought might be problematic going from Windows to OSX and the only two things I will not be able to replace are AutoHotkey and VoidTools Everything, but these are things I can learn to live without. Furthermore, right now there are third-party software alternatives for almost everything, which wasn't the case back then. I've been looking into OSX recently and I with gratitude that all of the things I didn't like back then have been addressed OR can be addressed using a third-party utility or script. I bough a Mac Pro 10 years ago, tried it and didn't like it. Well, I've been a PC user and advocate for 20 years.
